Wrens Reception B
Welcome to Wren Class
The topics this term will be 'Animal safari’, 'Creep, Crawl and Wiggle', 'On the Beach' and 'Moving on'.
'Animal safari' teaches children about the animals that live around the world, how to look after animals and the importance of caring for our local and global environments.
'Creep, Crawl and Wiggle' teaches children about invertebrates that live in their gardens and local environment.
'On the Beach' teaches children about the plants and animals that live at the seaside, it also explores holidays in the past and the importance of keeping safe in the sun.
'Moving on' celebrates the children's successes throughout their reception year.
Our phonics scheme is called ‘My Letters and Sounds’. This term we are consolidating the Phase 3 initial sounds and diagraphs. In Summer 2 will move onto Phase 4 which concentrates on blending and segmenting words. The children will bring home a reading book to practise their sounds at home. This book should be brought to school everyday in their school book bag. On Friday's they will bring home a workbook containing the sounds that we have learnt during the week. Please practise these at home little and often.
The teachers in Robins Class are Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Page. They are supported by Mrs Campbell. The teachers in Wrens Class are Miss Brazier and Mrs Bryson. They are supported by Mrs Fitt.
Our P.E. day is Monday so please wear P.E. kits to school on that day. No earrings or jewellery are allowed and long hair must be tied back. This half term we have Colchester United coaches for some PE enrichment days.
Please make sure that children have their own drinks bottle for water that they can bring to school daily. Please make sure that the bottle is named. Please label all clothes clearly with the children's names.
As the weather gets warmer please apply suncream before the children come to school. If it is a rainy day please bring in appropriate jackets.
We will post class messages on ClassDojo. You can also communicate any non-urgent messages through this platform. We use the online learning journal 'Tapestry'. Please look at this regularly to view photographs and posts about the activities your child has been doing at school.
Thank you.
