World Book Day 2026

Each year we enjoy celebrating World Book Day. The children dress up as their favourite book characters or in their favourite pair of pyjamas. The staff like to join in with this too! The nursery is set up with toys and activities based around the children’s favourite nursery books.

This year as it is Winnie The Pooh’s 100th Birthday, we decided to dedicate World Book Day to him. All staff came in dressed up as a different Winnie The Pooh character, we had honey with our snack, the children explored Winnie The Pooh tuff trays and made their own puppets to recreate the story too.

Throughout the day we read many stories in our own little nursery library and the children engaged in activities such as:

  • Making their own book marks.

  • Creating their own zoo (Dear Zoo).

  • Exploring the ‘sea’ tuff tray with The Snail and The Whale.

  • Creating Gingerbread Men out of playdough.

  • Exploring space and the planets.
