Catholic Life and Mission

With Jesus we learn to love and love to learn.

“With Jesus we learn to love and love to learn” lies at the very heart of our school community and shapes everything we do. Through Catholic Social Teaching, pupils learn that every person is created in the image of God and is therefore worthy of dignity, respect and inclusion. This understanding is rooted in Jesus’ Summary of the Law — to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbour as ourselves — and is brought to life through the Beatitudes, which guide children to act with humility, compassion, mercy and a commitment to justice. Within this framework, our core values of love, compassion, respect and honesty underpin relationships and behaviour across the school, helping children to build strong, trusting friendships and a deep sense of responsibility for others. We also recognise the importance of resilience, teaching pupils to persevere through challenges with hope and confidence, knowing that God walks with them in both joy and difficulty. By placing Jesus at the centre of learning and life, we nurture young people who are not only academically curious but also morally grounded, reflective and ready to serve others with kindness and courage.

Our Catholic Life and Mission

Our school is rooted in a strong and vibrant Catholic identity, where faith is at the heart of everyday life. Guided by our mission statement, we aim to nurture the spiritual, moral and personal development of every child. Prayer and liturgy are central to our school community, offering children regular opportunities to reflect, worship and grow in their relationship with God. Pupils are encouraged to take an active role in prayer, helping them to develop confidence, reverence and a sense of belonging within our Catholic family.

Religious Education sits at the core of our curriculum and shapes the way children understand the world around them. Across all subjects, learning is enriched by Gospel values and Catholic teaching, helping pupils make meaningful connections between faith and daily life. Themes such as love of neighbour, human dignity and care for creation are thoughtfully woven through subjects like science, history and PSHE, ensuring that children see faith as something lived and experienced, not just learnt.

Catholic Social Teaching plays a vital role in our school life. Pupils are encouraged to respond compassionately to the needs of others at a local, national and global level. Through charity work, environmental initiatives and acts of service, children learn why supporting others matters, rooted in the belief that all people are created in God’s image. As they grow, pupils become increasingly confident in explaining how their actions are inspired by their faith.

Our staff and governors are deeply committed to supporting and developing the Catholic life of the school. Regular professional development ensures staff feel confident and well-supported in leading prayer, liturgy and faith-based learning. Leaders continually reflect on and evaluate our Catholic provision to ensure it remains meaningful and effective. As a result, our pupils flourish as confident, caring and reflective individuals who live out our mission each day.
