HOUSE MARTIN YEAR 2
KS1 - Autumn Topic Page
Welcome to House Martin Class
We are a class of 29 hardworking superstars!
Staffing in our class:
Class Teacher: Miss Bell
Support Staff: Miss Bailey (am) Miss Hillsley (pm)
During PPA we will also be taught Music by Mrs Wallington.
During the Autumn Term, our topic will be ‘Movers and Shakers’.
See our Autumn term topic map above that outlines everything we will be learning about during our first term.
Please make sure all uniform is labelled as we no longer have a lost property. If property is labelled it will be returned to your child asap. Children must also bring a named water bottle with them to school.
Reading & Phonics
It is vital that children read daily at home. Before their book is changed they will need to have read through it twice to show they are confident.
Our phonics scheme is called ‘My Letters and Sounds’. This term we will be re-capping our Phase 5 sounds. The children will bring home a phonics book to practice their sounds at home. This book should be brought to school every day in their school book bag. Please encourage your child to read every day. Little and often is best.
For those children who are confident and fluent with their phonics, they will be tested using our Salford Reading Assessment - these children will bring home colour-banded books. These will be changed once the book has been completed as these are slightly longer texts.
PE
This half term, our PE lessons will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday. On this day, children must come to school dressed in their PE kits with jewellery removed (earrings cannot be taped over). Children should be dressed in the correct coloured PE kit (yellow/ gold t-shirt, black/brown shorts, trainers). Hair must also be tied back.
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is our main point of contact. We will update this platform regularly. If you ever have any non-urgent questions or queries, please send a message through this platform and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Any urgent messages should be reported through the school office. Thank you for your support.
