House Martin Year 2
Welcome to House Martin Class
We are a class of 30 year 2 pupils.
Staffing
Our teacher is Miss Bell.
We are supported by Miss Bailey, Miss Hillsley, Miss Warrick(1:1) and Mrs Forrestor(1:1).
During the summer term our topic will be 'Magnificent Monarchs'. In science, we will be learning about ‘Animal Survival’. Take a look at our summer topic page below for more information about what we will cover in the summer term.
Reading
Our phonics scheme is called ‘My Letters and Sounds’. Currently, we focus on Phase 5 sounds. The children will bring home a phonics book to practise their sounds and reading at home. This book should be brought to school every day in their school book bag. (Please do not send in rucksacks as we do not have enough room to store them). Please encourage your child to read every day. Little and often is best. Clacton has a wonderful library, so please encourage your child to sign up and borrow books to read.
For those children who are confident and fluent with their phonics, they will be tested using our Salford Reading Assessment. These children will bring home colour-banded books. These will be changed once the book has been completed as these are slightly longer texts.
Important information:
Please make sure that children have their own water bottles that they can bring to school daily. This must contain water, not juice or squash. Please make sure that the bottle is named. Please label all clothes clearly with the children's names.
Our PE days will be on Tuesdays. Please make sure all jewellery is removed. Our school library session is on Wednesday. Please return books on this day so that they can be exchanged.
After Easter, children are expected to be in their summer uniform. Please see the uniform list for any queries you have.
Please ensure all hair is tied up fully as per our uniform policy and any bows are small and in our school uniform colours.
Class Dojo is our main point of contact. We will update this platform regularly. If you ever have any non-urgent questions or queries, please send a message through this platform and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Any urgent messages should be reported through the school office. Thank you for your support.
We are looking forward to a fun (and hopefully sunny) term!
