Prayer and Liturgy
Prayer is at the heart of everything we do at St Clare’s. It shapes the rhythm of our school day, brings our community together and helps our children grow in faith, deepen their relationship with God and understand how they are called to live.
Our prayer and liturgical life is rich and varied. Throughout the week, children experience different forms of prayer, Scripture, music, reflection and celebration, helping them to understand that prayer can be joyful, reflective, communal and personal.

PRAYER AT ST CLARE'S
WEEKLY RHYTHM OF GATHERING TOGETHER TO PRAY
Each Monday begins with our Gospel Assembly, rooted in the Sunday Gospel. This gives us a clear spiritual focus for the week ahead and helps children reflect on how the message of the Gospel can influence their choices, relationships and actions.
On Tuesdays, we pray through hymns. Singing together gives children the opportunity to praise God, reflect on the words of our hymns and experience prayer through music.
On Wednesdays, our assembly focuses on our school values and Catholic Social Teaching. Children are encouraged to think about how faith should shape the way we treat others, care for our community and respond to the needs of the wider world.
On Thursdays, children take part in Key Stage Bible Assemblies. These provide opportunities to explore Scripture more deeply and to reflect on important biblical stories and teachings in an age-appropriate way.
On Fridays, each class takes part in a class-based Celebration of the Word, giving pupils the opportunity to pray, reflect and respond together in their own classroom community. At the end of the day, the whole school comes together for our Celebration Assembly, where we give thanks for the week, celebrate achievements and recognise the ways in which children have lived out our values and Gospel message.

Prayer also forms an important part of each school day. We begin with morning prayer, including intentions written by the children, which helps pupils pray for people and situations that are important to them. Before lunch, we say Grace before meals, and after lunch we give thanks through Grace after meals. At the end of the school day, we come together again in end-of-day prayer, giving thanks for the day and placing ourselves and others in God’s care.

Together, these moments of prayer and liturgy form the spiritual rhythm of life at St Clare’s. They help our children to encounter God in different ways, grow in confidence as people of prayer and understand that faith is something to be lived throughout the whole day.
