RSHE
I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
(John 10:10)
At St Clare's Catholic Primary School, we believe that Relationships and Sex Education is a vital part of our commitment to educating the whole child. Guided by our mission statement, "With Jesus we learn to love and love to learn," we seek to provide an education that nurtures children spiritually, morally, emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically.
Our approach to Relationships and Sex Education is rooted in the belief that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and is therefore deserving of dignity, respect and love. Through the teachings of Jesus Christ, the values of the Gospel, and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage children to recognise their own worth and the worth of others, fostering relationships built upon kindness, compassion, respect and responsibility.
At the heart of Catholic teaching is Jesus' Summary of the Law:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:37–39)
These commandments underpin our understanding of human relationships and provide the foundation for our RSE curriculum. We believe that children should be supported in developing the knowledge, skills and virtues necessary to form positive relationships, make responsible choices and contribute to the common good.
Our RSE programme reflects the teaching of the Catholic Church and supports children in understanding that relationships are central to human flourishing. It promotes respect for the dignity of every person, celebrates the gift of family life, and helps children to appreciate the value of friendship, community and service to others.

The programme supports pupils to:
