ART
Why do we teach Art at St Clare's School?
At St Clare's, we provide our children with a creative and highly engaging curriculum which gives our children the opportunity to express themselves through Art.
We believe that all children can be artists as Art is subjective and every child can access Art in their own, individual way. We teach children a progression of artistic skills through a broad, cross curricular approach. Our children become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. St Clare’s children learn about famous artists, craft makers and designers and they recognise they could be the Artists or Designers of the future!

Through weekly Art lessons, children develop skills in drawing and painting, printing, collage, and sculpture, and are given the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas. Children will be taught how to follow a creative process through; from gathering ideas and inspiration, to planning and production, and finally, evaluation. Children will be introduced to a range of works and develop knowledge of the styles and vocabulary used by other artists. Planned “Art days” are held each term to give children the opportunity to explore new areas of Art. They are given the freedom to be expressive and creative and apply new skills. | |||||
