ROBINS RECEPTION A

Welcome to Robin Class.

The topics this term will be 'Sunshine and Sunflowers’ and 'Big Wide World'.

'Sunshine and Sunflowers' teaches children how to care for plants and animals in their local environment and how to stay safe in the sun.

'Big Wide World' teaches children about the global community to which they belong and explores how living things, communities and climates differ around the world.

Our phonics scheme is called ‘My Letters and Sounds’. This term we are consolidating the Phase 3 initial sounds and diagraphs. In Summer 2 will move onto Phase 4 which concentrates on blending and segmenting words. The children will bring home a reading book to practise their sounds at home. This book should be brought to school everyday in their school book bag. On Fridays they will bring home a workbook containing the sounds that we have learnt during the week. Please practise these at home little and often.

The teacher in Robins Class is Mrs. Adams-Watts and is supported by Mrs Fitt. The teachers in Wrens Class our Mrs Bryson and Mrs Baker and supported by Mrs Lees.

Our P.E. day is Monday so please wear P.E. kits to school on that day. No earrings or jewellery are allowed and long hair must be tied back. In the first half term we have Colchester United coaches for some PE enrichment days.

Please make sure that children have their own drinks bottle for water that they can bring to school daily. Please make sure that the bottle is named. Please label all clothes clearly with the children's names.

As the weather gets warmer please apply suncream before the children come to school.  If it is a rainy day please bring in appropriate jackets.

We will post class messages on ClassDojo. You can also communicate any non-urgent messages through this platform. We use the online learning journal 'Tapestry'. Please look at this regularly to view photographs and posts about the activities your child has been doing at school.

Thank you.
